When it may help
It can be useful when a washable load needs additional removal of detergent or soil residue and the appliance provides the option.
Fix detergent dosing first
If every load needs repeated rinsing, review detergent concentration, dose, water hardness, load size and washer instructions rather than treating extra rinses as the permanent solution.
Do not confuse it with Rinse and Spin
Extra Rinse modifies a wash program; Rinse and Spin is usually a separate cycle. Check the control panel and manual for the exact model.
Use product-specific instructions
Garment care labels, appliance manuals and laundry-product directions can be more specific than a general guide. Use them when they set a tighter limit.
