What Drain and Spin does
Drain and Spin is primarily a water-removal cycle. Whirlpool notes that it removes excess water without adding new water, so it should not be mistaken for a cleaning cycle.
When it can be useful
It can help after a cycle interruption or when a washable load finishes unusually wet and an additional spin is appropriate.
Balance and fabric limits still matter
A heavy unbalanced item can remain a problem even if another spin is available. Delicate garments may also have lower spin tolerance.
Do not use spin to solve every wet-load problem
If the washer repeatedly leaves loads saturated, check load size, balance, drain performance and the appliance manual instead of endlessly repeating the cycle.
Use product-specific instructions
Garment care labels, appliance manuals and laundry-product directions can be more specific than a general guide. Use them when they set a tighter limit.
