Front-load and top-load machines can use different dispensers and dosing systems. The correct compartment is model-specific.
Product form matters
Liquid, powder and single-dose packets may have different placement instructions. A packet is not automatically interchangeable with liquid detergent in a dispenser drawer.
Do not pour concentrated product onto fabric unless directed
Direct contact can leave residue or discoloration on some materials. Follow the product directions for where and when to add it.
Dose and placement are separate decisions
Even when detergent is in the correct compartment, overdosing can still create residue or rinsing problems. Measure according to the product label and load conditions.
Use product-specific instructions
Garment care labels, appliance manuals and laundry-product directions can be more specific than a general guide. Use them when they set a tighter limit.
