Rinse and Spin Cycle: What It Does

Rinse and Spin is not a normal wash

This cycle is designed around rinsing and water extraction rather than a complete detergent wash. Whirlpool describes it as useful for loads that need a detergent-free rinse.

Good use cases

It can help when a washable item needs an additional rinse or when residual water or product needs to be removed without repeating a complete wash cycle.

Check spin sensitivity

High spin can stress delicate construction, stretch-prone items or poorly balanced loads. Choose the permitted spin setting and use a mesh bag where appropriate.

Extra rinse is a different feature

An Extra Rinse option adds another rinse to a wash cycle, while Rinse and Spin is a separate cycle on many machines. Names and behavior vary by model.

Use product-specific instructions

Garment care labels, appliance manuals and laundry-product directions can be more specific than a general guide. Use them when they set a tighter limit.
