Bulky does not mean unlimited capacity
Manufacturer cycle guides list items such as sheets, sleeping bags, small comforters, jackets and some washable rugs, but washer capacity still limits the load.
Wet weight changes the decision
A large item can become much heavier after saturation. Leave enough space for movement and do not force an item into a washer simply because the door closes.
Check the item itself
Foam, waterproof layers, delicate stitching or dry-clean-only construction can make a bulky cycle inappropriate.
Drying is part of the capacity decision
Large items can also exceed dryer capacity or retain moisture in thick sections. Plan the full wash-and-dry process before starting.
Use product-specific instructions
Garment care labels, appliance manuals and laundry-product directions can be more specific than a general guide. Use them when they set a tighter limit.
